Jobs for Writers

This is a listing of jobs for writers in Canada and the United States, sorted alphabetically, in the best 28 city markets. This list is updated six times a day and shows, on average between 100 to 140 of the most recent job postings. From my experience there is no reason you should have to check this list more than once per day.

Remember, if you’re a good writer, there is seldom a good reason not to look at writing jobs in any city. An employer may say they want someone local, however many of these employers will seriously consider hiring a writer who telecommutes from their home – if the fit between the writer and employer is good.

This resource comes from a blog post I did on different jobs for writers, which gives examples and suggestions depending on what kind of writer you are, or plan to be. Hope this resource helps. Happy job hunting!

Beware of Scams: There are just too many scammers out there who know there are a lot of desperate writers who will do almost anything for the promise of work.

A good rule of thumb is to walk away from any “job” that requires you to send money for any reason. This includes the purchase of software, paying for background checks, subscribing to any service, signing up for a “free” trial of anything. Be very cautious of anyone asking for personal information, offering a money-making system, surveys or focus groups, or anyone offering you training or education. Also be cautious of lures that are simply trying to get your resume (for resale purposes). And finally, be cautious of anyone offering you commissions, including affiliate marketing offers. In a nutshell: if they are advertising jobs for writers, and then try to lure you into something other than jobs for writers, be suspicious!
